After the heaviness of winter, the longer days and softer air seem to gently ask us: What are you ready to grow? What are you ready to let go of?
At Gulf Grove Therapy, we wanted to create a space where our community could pause long enough to actually sit with those questions. That’s how our Root & Rise: Spring Equinox Planting Party came to life, and honestly, it turned into something even more meaningful than we imagined.
The Power of Intention
We began the evening with a simple reflection on seasonal transitions.
Spring is often associated with growth, but growth doesn’t happen without roots. Before anything blooms, something unseen has to take hold beneath the surface.
We invited guests to think about:
- What they are ready to nurture in their lives
- What feels ready to be released
- What kind of support they might need in this next season
There’s something powerful about naming an intention out loud, even quietly to yourself. It creates a sense of direction. It reminds us that we are allowed to participate in our own growth.
Planting as a Practice

Each one of our guests received a paper heart, a pot, soil, and a seed, along with paint and markers with decorating.
We started the planting process with decorating our pots however we saw fit. Then, everyone had the opportunity to set an intention by writing it on the paper heart they received and placing it in the bottom of the pot. Everyone then got to put soil in their pot and place the seed in to grow.
For many, this became a moment of mindfulness. A chance to be fully present. To engage the senses. To slow the nervous system in a way that feels natural and accessible.
In therapy, we talk a lot about regulation, grounding, and creating safety in the body. This was a lived experience of that.
The Importance of Community
One of the most beautiful parts of the evening was watching connection happen organically.
People who had never met before were sharing pieces of their stories. Neighbors were realizing how close they lived to each other. Therapists and community members were sitting side by side, simply as people.
There was laughter. There were quieter moments. There was that subtle but meaningful sense of “I’m not alone in this.”
And that’s something we believe deeply at Gulf Grove Therapy.
Healing does not happen in isolation. Growth is not meant to be done alone.
Even outside of the therapy room, spaces that foster connection can be incredibly impactful.
Looking Ahead
As the evening came to a close, people left with their plants in hand, but also with something less tangible.
A sense of intention.
A moment of calm.
A reminder that growth is possible.
Spring has a way of offering us a reset, but only if we slow down enough to receive it.
We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us for Root & Rise and helped make it what it was.
And if you missed this one, don’t worry. This is just the beginning.
We’re committed to continuing to create spaces like this. Spaces where you can show up as you are, connect with others, and maybe plant the seeds of something new.
If you’re feeling ready for deeper support this season, therapy can be a place to continue that growth.
And if not, we’ll see you at the next community event.
Either way, you’re always welcome here.
