For the woman who holds everything together and is finally ready to put herself first.
About Maura
You’re capable, dependable, and used to showing up for everyone else. But lately, something feels off. You’re overwhelmed, running on empty, or quietly disconnected from yourself. Maybe you’ve been overgiving for so long you’ve forgotten what it feels like to actually rest. Maybe the weight of past experiences has been following you around, even when life looks fine on the outside.
You deserve a space that’s just for you.
Maura Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 9 years of experience supporting adults through anxiety, burnout, and trauma. She specializes in working with millennial and Gen Z women, professionals, and those in helping fields: the people who are great at taking care of others but struggle to extend that same care to themselves.
Maura’s approach is calm, practical, and relational. She draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and strength-based approaches to help clients build sustainable self-care, set healthier limits, and create more ease and connection in daily life, without guilt or pressure.
Therapy with Maura is a space to slow down, feel genuinely understood, and reconnect with what matters most. When you’re ready for support that feels steady, compassionate, and real, she’d be honored to work with you.

Maura's Background & Training
Maura’s clinical foundation was built at Tulane University, one of the country’s leading MSW programs. Over 9 years of practice, she has developed deep expertise in anxiety, burnout, trauma, and the relational wounds that often sit underneath them.
In addition to her private practice work at Gulf Grove Therapy, Maura also works at Moffitt Cancer Center, supporting oncology patients and their families as they navigate one of the most difficult experiences a person can face. This work has sharpened her ability to meet clients in hard moments with steadiness, warmth, and genuine presence.
Maura uses an integrative approach rooted in evidence-based modalities:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): helping clients clarify their values and create meaningful change even in the presence of difficult thoughts and feelings
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): identifying and shifting unhelpful thought patterns
- Motivational Interviewing: meeting clients where they are and building intrinsic motivation for change
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): identifying strengths and what’s already working
- Strength-Based approaches: grounding sessions in what the client already carries
She also draws on mindfulness practices and somatic awareness, helping clients find calm and clarity not just intellectually, but in their bodies and daily lives.

A Note from Maura
"You don't have to keep carrying everything alone. Therapy can be a space to slow down, feel genuinely understood, and reconnect with what matters most. I use practical tools: mindfulness, movement, and meaningful connection. More than any technique, I show up with real curiosity about who you are and what you need. When you're ready, I'm here."
MORE THAN JUST MY WORK
Outside of sessions, Maura is someone who genuinely practices what she teaches. She believes in the power of community, rest, and everyday moments that bring you back to yourself, whether that’s a good conversation, time in nature, or finally taking a real lunch break. She brings that same grounded, no-pressure energy into the therapy room.
